Info about The Hops Review .com.

The Hops Review .com was started December, 2005 because the founders, two well “rounded” beer drinkers, wanted to share their affinity for our favorite frosty beverage. Basically, we love beer and wanted to talk about it.

Currently, we have a blog on which you can comment and pages with various beer related information. We also recently started a Podcast, where our drunken beer reviews have started to unfold.

This site started using the Gentle Calm theme designed by Phu Ly, but was customized to better fit our needs. It is powered by WordPress; one of the best and most flexible blogging systems available.

We are also making use of a couple really cool Javascript libraries, to add a little wow-effect to the site. One of those libraries happens to be script.aculo.us. Basically, this library allows us to add some really nifty visual effect to the contact and member pages. On the contact page, when you click one of the input fields, the background flashes yellow to signify which entry field is active. The other visual effect happens to be on the members page. When you load the page, you may notice a small “drag” icon, if you were to click on this image and simply drag you mouse, something really cool happens. I’ll leave it to the reader to figure out.

The other library we are using is called Behaviour. This nugget of functionality is much more technical in nature and really helps us use script.aculo.us more efficiently. If you really are interested, it allows us to us CSS selectors to apply Javascript behaviours - See, I told you it was technical.
